Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is a country of wonder and beauty. We are a people of ambition,
energy, and enthusiasm. The NDP is committed to delivering a more prosperous, safer and a more
confident future, for our country.
The NDP will deliver on 5 key priorities to unleash our country’s potential and secure a brighter future
for all.
The NDP will make it a national mission to create more and better paid jobs. We will invest in education and skills training to prepare people for the jobs of today, for example creating the TVET centre of excellence. We will deliver for our country’s young people with the Youth Guarantee Pledge, affirming that by the end of our first term in office, every young person will have the opportunity to be employed, or to participate in a training program, or be engaged in an internship programme. We will support business growth by creating a jobs creation package and will invest in opening new markets at home and abroad.
We have a plan to build the four pillars of the economy: tourism, agriculture, the blue economy and the new economy. We will supercharge these sectors by creating a new National Development Bank to support growth, open new markets by creating a National Marketing Board and creating real economic growth.
Crime and violence are out of control. Homicide, robbery and praedial larceny are a blight on so many communities. We have a plan to tackle crime. Our long-term plan focuses on these core issues and involves more resources for front-line police, cutting-edge technology rolled out across the police and more community policing. We will build another emergency shelter for women and improve the counselling support to those who need it. We will increase the prison sentences of those convicted of praedial larceny, ensuring those who commit the crime are sufficiently punished and sending a message to all that this crime will not be tolerated.
We want to create a health service that meets the needs of all and leaves no one behind. We will create a National Health Insurance Programme to provide coverage for all, establish a Medicines Purchase Fund to ensure critical medicines are available and increase investment in frontline services.
We need to improve rapidly our infrastructure across the country. First, it’s critical to our national economic growth that farmers, businesses and others can get produce across the country. Secondly, we should be using this as an opportunity to build our domestic business community by working with local contractors and businesses to deliver the infrastructure upgrades.
